What one is used to reading and sharing are the wonderful stories of great professional partnerships. Stories of colleagues turned into best friends, of incredible bosses turned into mentors. You don’t often read stories of hardship (unless it’s an incredible feel-good story) because they tend to carry a heavy weight and, who am I kidding, they can carry legal repercussions as well. So how do you separate your experiences from your work? That’s a question I keep asking myself. Can you be proud of the projects you’ve worked on, the teams you’ve built, and the experiences you lived through without a sour tang that makes everything taste like rotten fish? I am not talking about the Icelandic national ‘rotten’ shark (Hákarl) that is supposed to be a delicacy. I have been avoiding any LinkedIn updates because of this.
Despite, in spite of, regardless of, although, even though, in defiance of.
Can I start an update like this? Let’s try it.
